A tour through the history of the society of Buenos Aires which produced Tango
The tango they never told you
Tango is a musical expresion with it’s own identity that carries in it’s blood the candombre, the milonga, the payada, the havana, the andalusian tango, the chotis, the poka, the operetta, the mazurka and the farce, to name just a few of it’s originators.
This music reflects with majesty the cultural sinchronicity of the river plate, where influences african, indigenous, creole, cuban, jewish, italian, german, polish, spanish and french are all dominant.
“Homo sapiens” offers a guided tour through Buenos Aires and the society that participates and witness the birth, growth and maturity of Tango in an imaginary voyage through time showing the distinct role of each influence from the diverse social and economic sectores.
Towards all these characters, anonymous and famous, rich and poor, compadritos (*), malevolants erudites, poets, musicans, dancers, the tour is orientated, in homage.
The tour will last 3 hours on foot and by bus. The tour will conclude with a dinner, music and dancing.
Compadritos (*): en lunfardo
